The sequence of feelings, thoughts and tensions that constantly accompany us during our daily routine causes a continuous movement of facial expression muscles that we are often not aware of. This creates grooves that, as time goes by, become deeper due to the reduction in skin elasticity, conveying a weary and aged expression. Botox injections, the widely used non-surgical cosmetic treatment, allows to restore a fresh and rested face, safely and painlessly.
What is Botox and how does it work?
Botox is a natural purified protein that temporarily blocks the nervous motor impulse by targeting muscle contraction. Once injected into the muscle, it contributes to stretch the skin surface, which is less stimulated by the movements of expression muscles, thus ironing out wrinkles.

The treatment
Approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), the treatment with botulinum toxin takes about 15 minutes to perform, and consists of a series of injections administered in points of the face that are most subjected to contractions. Based on individual sensitivity, the procedure can be slightly uncomfortable but never to the point of requiring any type of anaesthesia.
At the end of the treatment, a few hours of rest will suffice before returning to normal activities.
The action of the injected substance unfolds during the days that closely follow treatment, and the effect of distension/levelling can last for up to 4-6 months (depending on the individual epidermal response).
